Media always makes things worse

A couple of nigths ago, a local news network presented the case of a woman that was living in infrahuman conditions in a community in Puerto Rico. Government Agencies denied the woman food stamps benefits because she lacked a proper I.D. and her last son recently had turned 18. The woman had no furniture, no stove, no refrigerator, no electricity, no water and the house had holes in the walls the size of basketballs. But that is not my main complain, this only proves that in Puerto Rico there is still a lot to do for our elders, that riches are unevenly distributed and that government agencies are doing a shitty job as they always do. My complain is that once the footage was over, the anchor man made a very improper comment: "There's a case for Fortu~os administration, for him to deal with it". In spanish, "Hay tiene un casito la administracion de Fortu~o, pa' que bregue"For those of you who don't know, Luis Fortu~o is the new governor of Puerto Rico and he's only been a couple of weeks in the spot. However, I don't mean to defend him, but to highlight the ignorance of the anchorman by doing such a comment. First of all, the governor does not assign food stamps and he does not visit families in order to evaluate wheter they need them or not, social workers do. Second, the governor does not choose the people that work for those agencies and deal with the cases neither he designs the charts that decide the percentage of the benefits that youshould be awarded or the proper protocol to follow, chiefs of agencies do, and third he should know better than to politicize situations and spark the flames of the "political parties hot potato blame game" Because in the end, all he acquires is to prove that to be an anchorman for that newscast, apparently you don't need a lot of brain cells. Let's see if finally "le canta el gallo"and his analitical capabilities wake up to being objective and not make a political circus out of the misery of others.
One again it's proven: "Puerto Rico lo hace mejor"

Normal = Weird?

In the course of my short marriage, I have learned a very important lesson that I carry with me anywhere I go. "Weird things happen to normal people". Yes, they do. take this afternoon as an example. Nelson got home from work, stepped out of his car, starts walking towards the house entrance and the next thing we know is that his car was dumped face up in the dry riverbed that is next to the house. Yep. I'm not joking, all the way to the bottom. Apparently the car "spitted out" the emergency break and even when it was in a plain surface, it went backwards and dumped itself down there. Then, we had to call a towing service to get the car out and all the s*@# that this situations involve. And now this is the situation, we have three cars. and none of the three is working properly and i start work tomorrow, what are the odds huh?

Puerto Rico needs a Robin Hood

So politics in Puerto Rico never end. During election period and months before (lots of months before) we, the citizens, can appreciate the slimy campaign skills of the "honorable men and women" that are our options to rule the country and supposedly "speak our voice" for we are in a democratic country (or so they say). Finally, at the end of the period, "a hero is chosen" and empowered by the skills that his party color gives him, he gladly takes the seat( and the house, and the escorts, and the titles, and the ridiculously high salary, etc.). And the people that vote for him see him as a Robin Hood, an extraordinary man that will not eat, sleep or breath until all the corruption and unfair laws of the land have been abolished. But when he is finally "crowned" and his rule is official, his first proclamation shakes to the core the peasants and merchants that gave him his now untouchable place, "Hear ye, hear ye, the sheriff of Borinken has denounced that new taxes shall be applied to the land in order to fix the land's economical situation" Now, the hero becomes a villain, and neighboring kingdoms like the PPD, use this information to take advantage and keep the islanders unhappy with their new ruler for the next four years. Everybody whines, screams, shouts, criticizes and complains, some even weep in silence, for their Robin Hood, has now become the Sheriff of Nottingham and it will be them, the islanders who will keep suffering the worst of political incompetence and selfish thinking. This land still waits for their "Richard the Lion Heart" to return and save what is left of its economy so tha we can once again fill our carts gas tanks with 20.00 dollars .

If you can't actually visualize this, do not worry, if you wait 4 years and you come to visit the island, you will be able to see it in action all over again, because here in Puerto Rico, we are stuck in a political loophole that repeats itself everytime a political term ends and supposedly, a "new" one starts.

With all this new taxes and situations inside the royal court of politicians, we really are going to need a real Robin Hood to steal from "the rich" and give to "the working class" and "the poor", tights and all.

About Music

So I've been at home all day downloading music and I remembered that Ricky Martin does have good songs, I also realized that I barely listen to music anymore and that I did not downloaded anything new, everything was from 2006 and back, is that a sign that I'm getting older? I would say that it is a sign that there is nothing good or innovative in the market. Lately all you can hear are remakes of remakes, mixes, or old songs being brought back to life in duets or stuff like that. Does that mean that creativity is dead? Has the music world reached its limit and now is time for the Gods and Goddesses of pop, rock and hip hop to rest in peace? If so, what's gonna happen next? I don't think that we would love to see each other in the stores buying compilation records labeled "greatest hits". There's gotta be some talent out there, it just has to find a way to make it to my mp3 player.

So what if Bush's cat died!!!

Media people nowadays are so desperate for attention that we even get to know when a cat dies. I open my internet browser and there it is is Bush's cat dies, so what? Will they make such a big fuzz about it if it was one of my cats?I'm sure they won't, it's the sae thing with the Travolta Kid, My God, can't the media leave the family had their grieving time like a normal family? Noooooo, they have to be inquiring, and questioning and shoving cameras in people's face, or in a simpler definition: making money out of others sadness and misery. What is wrong with the media people? I mean, it won't be long before we start getting headlines like "Hollywood people fart too" or stupid stuff like that. They may not behave like it all the time, but believe or not, they are human too. Yes, they are. So sorry to break the fairy tale, they get sick, they get crazy, they have bad days and bad relationships but most importantly they also have families, and they deserve the privacy and respect that any other family should get in their times of grief.

Dreams

lately, Ive been having a lot of weird dreams and i wish i knew what they mean. I've been dreaming a bit of everything from slicing my arms to having a hell of a lifetime in a party near the beach with friends I know and partners that I don't. Could it be that I am just bored? Don't know, do care and i would love if someone could suggest something before i go crazi-er than I already am.

New Year

Another Year. What can really be said? I guess that there is nothing more to say about it than that it will be the same as years before. one pretends that things will change in order to be posotivistic and get hopes up. But, does things really change? Is there really a way that calling the same flow of time with a diffrent name we can change something?
